This is a message for any residents residing in Aboite Township regarding the potential creation of a new fire protection district to serve unincorporated Aboite Township. Greetings Aboite Township residents.

 

The Aboite Township Volunteer Fire Department is asking for your support as we work to create a new and improved fire protection district to serve the residents of unincorporated Aboite Township (those living outside the city limits).  

 

Our current funding allows for just one ambulance 24/7 and two firefighters during the daytime hours Monday through Friday.  Given our increasing population and a rising number of 911 calls, we feel it is vital to have full time staffing for two ambulances and a fire crew of 4 firefighters.  In order to accomplish this goal of improving emergency services to our community, we are asking for support to obtain the funding necessary to allow us to provide these life and property saving services.  The attached document details what we will be able to provide and the associated tax implications, along with a link to the petition you can sign to show your support.

 

As you consider this, please keep in mind the following statistics:

 

On duty firefighters can be on the scene of a fire within 4 minutes

Volunteer firefighters can be on the scene in 8-10 minutes.

 

According to the American Heart Association, every minute without defibrillation with CPR decreases survival chances by 7-10%

According to ready.gov in just 2 minutes a fire can become life-threatening, in 5 minutes a residence can be engulfed in flames
